Part deux ~ the saga continues...

In December 2006 we bought the adjacent piece of land and began planning Tatsumi no Machi. It took a few weeks of research, reading descriptions, studying old prints and then we were ready to begin.

The first step was to build the base and then add the posts which support the weight of the roof, and allow the floor area to be divided into 'rooms' by inserting fusuma between the posts, or hanging fabric from them.

Taking a break after finishing the shinden, and planning the next stage ~ the courtyard between the shinden and higashi no tai!

Till the next time...

I thought we should start our news in more or less chronological order, so let me start at the beginning.

On 15th September, 2006 we bought our first piece of land in Kawaii. Until that time we had rented land, so we threw a small celebration party for our friends on Second Life, then got down to the business of planning our home. We decided on a 3-roomed, L-shaped house and got started building straight away. Our house as it is now, is only slightly different from what it was in the beginning, although it has matured in SL along with us!

Here it is, as it stands today. We moved it onto a small island adjacent to our original property to allow room for building Tatsumi no Machi. Since this is our personal home, and passers-by refused to respect our privacy, we had to install a security scanner. So when you visit Tatsumi no Machi please stay on the Palace side of the water. Anyone landing at our personal home will receive a 20-second warning message asking them to leave. If the message is ignored, the avatar will be ejected. We regret having to install the security, but there it is. Anyway, there's nothing interesting to see there *^_^*
I'll post the next installment in the saga tomorrow.
Until the next time ~

I decided on a re-vamp of this blog and to make it a stand-alone site. I'll probably continue to tweak it over the coming months, until I am somewhere near to satisfied with it. Modhuine will also post here, so this will be a joint blog venture. All the old posts and comments have been saved to a zip file for posterity and nostalgic evenings. Watch this space ~
Until the next time ~
